December 1st, 2017
Greetings, we hope you are all having a wonderful Holiday season. As we get ready to send out the statements for your 2018 membership, we would like to mention that if you see something on your statement that you wish changed, please don’t hesitate to contact me and I will get you a new one sent out with the changes.
STAFF UPDATE: Jacob is working hard to get everything put away for the season and will be working on getting the equipment updated throughout the winter. Myself? Well same old, officiate a little basketball, deliver some packages and take the occasional nap when the situation is right. But should you ever need anything in regards to booking an event, renting the clubhouse or just general golf chat, don’t be afraid to call
3 NEW INCENTIVES FOR YOU THE MEMBER: At the past board meeting there was some great discussion on how we can make things better for you the member and what we can do to enhance the investment you have made to the OGC. Through that discussion 3 items came forth:
- 1. We have entered into a new agreement with Minnewaska GC in Glenwood. I know it is an hour and a half away, but Scott McDonald has been gracious enough to offer our members reciprocals. He is giving us 3 tee times a month for our members to play the MGC for just a cart fee…18 holes & a cart for just the cart fee. All tee times must be made Scott and I. And since there are a limited number, you may want to book in advance.
- 2. Members who refer a new first year member to the club will receive $50 in clubhouse credit to be used toward drinks or merchandise. Just have the new member mention your name as the referral and we will credit it to your account.
- 3. And lastly, a new incentive to pay early. All payments received by February 1st will receive four 9-hole green fees to be used by friends or guests throughout the season. Payments received by March 1st will once again receive two 9-hole green fees.
REDWOOD GC RECIPROCAL: The reciprocal is a “GO” again in 2018. OGC members will be able to play Redwood GC for $25 (18 holes & cart) anytime based on their availability. Tee times must be booked through me here at the club. In other words don’t show up the Redwood GC and say you are a member at the OGC. Please respect this process. The further advanced notice you give me, the better chance we have to give you the tee time you would like.
MEMBERSHIP PAYMENTS: With rising cost of credit card fees, we ask the members to please pay by cash or check. If you do pay by cash, please make sure you get a receipt from the staff to protect both parties. If you choose to pay be credit card, the OGC will add a 5% service charge to your bill to offset the cost of the fees. Our credit card machine will not be turned back on until March 1st, which will be too late for the free guest passes, so just communicate with me your intentions and we will allow a grace period of one week to receive the complimentary passes.
LADIES DAY 2018: We really liked the start to the seed that was planted last year. OGC is committed to trying to make this a place for you ladies to not only feel welcomed, but comfortable when you come and play golf. We only can hope and pray that the ladies nights will grow as we seek to try and make those Thursday nights something very special.

Dear Valued Members of Olivia Golf Club,
With the weather trending the way it has been the past few weeks, it’s almost impossible to not think about playing golf. If the pattern continues we could have a very lengthy golf season 2017. That means Club Champion Jon Eiler needs to start getting nervous, I’m coming for you.
As you will see in this book we have gone back to including the tournament schedule, please remember that the most current list of dates will be on this website and on the display board. If you have a flyer for your event, please let me or Greg know and we can get it on the display board for you.
In the off season we were able to renew Greg Snow’s contract, he will be employed with the OGC until November 2018. We were very happy to retain Greg, as he is a great asset to the team.
Please keep an eye open for club work days, we seem to have the same handful of people coming annually to the work day. this is a way to keep expenses down and help our Superintendent get special projects done. This is a very important function of our club. Please, if you can make it, come on out.
The OGC board has unanimously approved a change to some Thursday Ladies Days. We have decided, with input from the Ladies Board, to do six Thursdays that will ladies only from 9:00am to close. This change was made to better serve our very important ladies membership. Further details are in the ladies’ portion of this booklet.
I want to conclude saying how much of an honor it is to serve the membership of this club as President. I’ve very much enjoyed the last year and a half.
Think Pars or Better!
